handwoven in northern Ghana, specifically in Upper Ghana on the border with Burkina Faso, by men and women of the Bolgatanga tribe. Bolga fans are made from elephant grass (miscanthus), which grows in the country's wooded regions.
They feature a braided or leather-covered handle, depending on the model, and a sturdy loop at the end for hanging on a wall, for example.
