EXPLORE OUR RUGS BY SIZE
From small sizes to XXL rugs, find the dimensions that suit your room.

The 1.5 x 1 m format is ideal for small spaces. In an entryway, at the foot of an armchair, in a child's room, or in front of a bed, a small Berber rug easily adds color, pattern, or texture without taking up too much room. It's also a good size for Azilal, Boucherouite , and other colorful Berber rugs, which are often very graphic and expressive.
The 2.5 x 1.5 m size is one of the easiest to incorporate. It's particularly suitable for medium-sized living rooms, bedrooms, and spaces where you want to place a rug without covering the entire room. This dimension is found in both natural Beni Ouarain rugs and colorful Azilal, Boujaad , or Berber rugs.
Measuring 3 x 2 meters, the large rug truly begins to structure the living room. It allows you to place a coffee table and the legs of the sofa and armchairs directly on the rug, rather than simply sliding it in front of the furniture. This size works particularly well with a Beni Ouarain, a M'rirt , or a large patterned Berber rug when you want to create a cohesive composition around the living room.

Starting at 3.5 x 2.5 meters, we move into the realm of very large Berber rugs. These dimensions are ideal for large living rooms, open-plan spaces, and areas where several sofas or armchairs need to be placed around a single room. M'rirt, Beni Ouarain XXL, and large, colorful Berber rugs are particularly impressive in these sizes.
A hallway runner isn't chosen solely for its length; the available width is the primary factor in determining the right size. Our hallway runners can measure up to several meters in length, with widths suitable for entryways, corridors, passageways, and kitchens. Berber kilims and vintage rugs , being thinner, are particularly well-suited to these high-traffic areas.

FAQ — Choosing the right size rug
What size rug should I choose for a living room?
For a living room, the size depends primarily on the layout of your furniture and the available space. A 2.5 x 1.5 m rug is generally suitable for a medium-sized living room, while a 3 x 2 m rug creates a more spacious feel around a sofa and coffee table. For very large living rooms or open-plan spaces, our XXL rugs of 3.5 x 2.5 m and larger truly define the room.
How to measure your space before choosing a rug?
Before choosing your rug, measure the space you want to cover and consider the placement of your furniture. A simple tip is to mark the rug's dimensions on the floor with masking tape or a few objects: this will allow you to easily visualize its size before ordering. Also, remember to check the exact dimensions indicated on each rug, excluding the fringe.
Do the dimensions given include the fringes?
No. The dimensions shown on our website refer to the woven surface area of the rug, excluding the fringe. The fringe is typically around ten centimeters long and is therefore added to the total length of the rug. You can find the exact dimensions of each rug on its product page.
What size rug should I choose to go under a dining table?
For a dining table, the rug should ideally extend far enough beyond the edges on each side so that the chairs remain on the rug when pulled back. A 2.5 x 1.5 m rug is suitable for a small table, while a 3 x 2 m rug or larger will be more appropriate for a large family table.
What size rug should I choose for a bedroom?
In a bedroom, several configurations are possible. A small rug measuring 1.5 x 1 m can be placed at the foot of the bed or to the side, while a 2.5 x 1.5 m rug creates a more enveloping space around the bed. The choice also depends on the size of the bed and the layout of the room.
How can I tell if my rug will be big enough for my sofa?
For a living room, the rug should be large enough to create a cohesive look around the furniture. Ideally, the front legs of the sofa should rest on the rug, while the coffee table remains entirely on it. For a small living room, a 1.5 x 1 m rug might be suitable for a defined space; for a larger sofa and coffee table, opt for a 2.5 x 1.5 m or 3 x 2 m rug.

Berber rugs in all sizes
A rug isn't chosen solely for its pattern or color: its dimensions play a crucial role in its overall look. The same rug can have a very different presence depending on whether it's placed in a small space or a large living room. That's why our collection includes a wide variety of sizes, from small Berber rugs to XXL models. At Les Tapis Sauvages, we categorize our rugs into five main groups: small rugs up to 1.5 x 1 m, medium sizes up to 2.5 x 1.5 m, large rugs around 3 x 2 m, XXL rugs of 3.5 x 2.5 m and larger, and hallway runners.
Different sizes for rugs with different personalities
The size of a rug can also alter the perception of its design. A highly graphic pattern can be particularly striking on a small scale, while a rug with more subtle motifs will truly come into its own on a large one. This is especially true of Beni Ouarainrugs, recognizable by their geometric patterns and generous wool. Azilal and Boujaad, often more colorful and expressive, also come in a wide variety of sizes. M'rirt, with their dense texture and exceptionally soft feel, are also magnificent in large formats. Each type of rug thus has its own unique way of occupying space.
From small rugs to XXL sizes
Small rugs make it easy to incorporate Moroccan craftsmanship into spaces where a large rug would be disproportionate. They are also ideal for highlighting a particular color or pattern. Medium-sized rugs offer more possibilities and allow you to play with furniture arrangement. Large and XXL rugs, on the other hand, have a much more substantial presence. Their surface area allows you to create a veritable landscape on the floor and give a different dimension to large living spaces. For long, narrow spaces, hallway rugs are a category of their own, with proportions specifically designed to complement passageways.
Berber rugs in all colors
Size is just one way to explore our collection. You can also search for your rug based on its color palette: white, black and white , or colorful, as well as pieces in shades of red, pink, blue, green, brown , or orange. A large rug in natural tones can provide a soft foundation to a room, while a colorful or graphic design can become the focal point of the décor.
Each rug is a unique piece
The dimensions listed on our website are always those of the actual rug. As our rugs are hand-knotted in Morocco, slight irregularities and variations in size are normal. These are part of the handcrafted character of each rug. Therefore, two rugs of the same type and similar dimensions will never be perfectly identical. The wool, the knotting, the patterns, and the colors give each piece its own unique personality.
What if you are looking for a specific size?
Our in-stock collection offers a wide range of sizes, but some projects require specific dimensions. For spaces with unusual proportions or very large areas, we also offer custom-made Berber rugs, crafted according to the dimensions and preferences of your project.
