M'rirt Berber rugs - the high end
M'rirt (or Beni M'rirt) Berber rugs are made in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region of the Middle Atlas Mountains in central Morocco. They are the most prestigious and high-end of Moroccan Berber rugs. The weave is particularly tight, resulting in a denser rug. Consequently, a larger quantity of wool is needed to weave a single rug. M'rirt rugs are also washed and brushed after weaving, giving them a silky, velvety feel. They are very thick and plush and feature patterns similar to Beni Ouarain rugs . Moroccan Berber rugs reflect the excellence of Moroccan craftsmanship, woven on traditional wooden looms in the mountainous regions of Morocco (High Atlas or Middle Atlas, depending on the rug type), by Berber women in their homes or working in cooperatives in remote mountain villages. All Berber rugs are made of sheep's wool and knotted. It takes between 4 and 8 weeks to make a Berber rug, depending on the size and complexity of the patterns.
Wild Carpets has selected the finest Moroccan Berber rugs for you. All our rugs are handcrafted in Morocco from sheep's wool on traditional looms. As these products are handmade, irregularities or imperfections may be present and are noted where necessary.
The exact color of the rugs may vary depending on your screen calibration. Our rugs are photographed in our warehouse under natural daylight. Each rug is photographed in detail, and the most accurate color representation can be found in the detailed photographs. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to receive additional photographs of any of our rugs. (lestapissauvages@gmail.com / 0634789095)
